Buick CT6, For China?

Well not explicitly for China, but Chinese motivations would likely be the prime driver. Supposedly the Chinese buy 13 Buicks to every 1 Cadillac...

If a large Buick based on the CT6 were to head to China, though, it likely wouldn't be a simple case of badge engineering (thank God). Reuss hinted to Automotive News that while the mixed-material construction of the CT6 platform "is very flexible," doing an "identical version of that platform or not is a different conversation."

One thing that has me wondering is how different they'll go with the buick version, if it will just be a facelift with hints left of the CT6 or something full on Buick.

Well this Buick would be a production version of the Avenir concept which was debuted at the Detroit auto show. A production model hasn't been confirmed yet, but it does seem likely.

An Omega-based Buick is consequently viewed as a particularly attractive proposition as GM continues to battle for market share against aggressive rivals in China.
It also is possible that the new Buick could be built on the same frame as an upcoming CT-badged model which has a larger wheelbase than the CT6. The Chinese love that longer wheelbase.

Even though we noticed an aluminum pillars as part of the Avenir concept’s structure, a sure sign of Omega at work, Reuss is quick to say a possible Buick flagship may not see the same underpinnings as the 2016 Cadillac CT6, the first vehicle to utilize the Omega platform.
“Whether it would be an identical version of [the Omega] platform or not is a different conversation. We’re looking at it.”
