Cadillac CT8 Is Cancelled

The CT6 will remain Cadillac's flagship sedan for the foreseeable future as the brand has announced that it will not be building a CT8 sedan that would be inspired by the Elmiraj concept's styling. The CT8 would have been bigger and more opulent. With the main market for these large luxury sedans slowing down, I am speaking of China, Cadillac is likely to choose to develop more CUVs and SUVs, rather than sedans.

How do you think this news plays into yesterday's news that Cadillac is working on a CT9 and X9 that would be priced in the >$250,000 range.

I think they just figured that timing isn't right to launch the CT8. What they probably figured is launching the CT9 and X9 will help set the stage for moving the higher volume CT8's. Smart move since going the other way around doesn't work as well, people aren't as thrilled to see the CT8 at that point.

I don't think they've entirely scrapped it like what @CT6IX says. The economy doesn't look to great at the moment and they're probably just rebrand it as something else to be launched again later on.

Glad to see someone else here is seeing what's going on. The easiest thing for Cadillac to do is say it's cancelled since that stops most questions, but if they said it's delayed, put off, or whatever, then they'll have created more problems for themselves.

Fact is a CT8 would sell, it just has to be done right and it has to launch at the right time.
