It Won’t Be A CT6-V But You’ll Still Get A V8

Anyone hoping for a Cadillac CT6-V will be heartbroken to learn that it’s not in the cards but you’ll still get a CT6 with a V8 engine. Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen has outright stated that “No V version is being contemplated at this point,” and such a move is just not what Cadillac wants to do with the CT6.

Before you fantasize further let me be the first to tell you that no, that beast of a supercharged V8 engine from the CTS-V will not be under the CT6’s hood because of packaging reasons. Instead, you’ll be seeing a bespoke 4.2 liter V8 with twin turbochargers, bumping up the CT6’s output into the high 400s in terms of hp. It could even be paired with GM’s eight-speed automatic transmission. A step up from when Cadillac introduced the CT6 last year with two engine options: a biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 404 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque as its most powerful engine or a turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder engine producing 265 horsepower.

The V8 CT6 was designed with luxury in mind more so than sportiness which is why it won’t be part of the V-Sport line. There’s no word on when the V8 CT6 will be introduced but when it is made available, which engine will you choose?
